TELUPID: The Ministry of Industrial Development, Entrepreneurship and Transport (Mindet) has allocated RM50,000 through its Special Entrepreneurship Development Fund to three associations to strengthen entrepreneurship activities in Telupid and Pitas.
The contribution was presented by Deputy Chief Minister III and Minister of Industrial Development, Entrepreneurship and Transport Datuk Ewon Benedick during his recent working visit to Bengkoka and Telupid.

Of the total allocation, Persatuan Amal Harapan Beluran received RM20,000, Persatuan Peniaga Telupid Sabah received RM10,000, while Persatuan Sukarelawan Bengkoka Pitas received RM20,000.
Ewon said the funding is aimed at helping the associations organise entrepreneurship programmes that benefit their members and the local community, including Tamu Desa entrepreneurs, while encouraging greater participation in economic activities.
During his visit to Bengkoka, Ewon also inspected the Bongkol Tamu Desa project, which was completed last year under an allocation from the Ministry of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives (Kuskop).
He said the project is now being utilised by local entrepreneurs, who conduct business there every Saturday, providing a more organised and comfortable trading environment for both traders and visitors.
“The Tamu Desa project is one of the initiatives under the Domestic Look East Policy that I introduced while leading Kuskop to strengthen entrepreneurship development and stimulate economic activities in rural areas.
“We will continue assisting entrepreneurs and strengthening the entrepreneurship ecosystem through financial assistance, improved facilities and strategic collaborations, including via Mindet’s Special Entrepreneurship Development Fund.
“This is to ensure more entrepreneurs, particularly those in rural areas, have the opportunity to expand their businesses and improve their economic wellbeing,” said Ewon.
