Kota Kinabalu: The Sabah Table Tennis Association (STTA) has secured a sponsorship from Yit Foh Tenom Coffee for the 44th MILO Malaysia Junior & Cadet Championships, which will be held at the Maksak Hall, here, from Sept 16 to 20.

The sponsorship will support the organisation of the national tournament, which is expected to attract top junior and cadet players from across the country.

On Saturday, STTA President Liaw Kin Vun visited Alex Yong, managing director of the prominent and well-established local coffee brand in Sabah, who presented him with a sponsorship cheque.

During the meeting, Yong expressed his aspirations for Sabah’s young athletes. He believes they can emulate the success of Tenom Coffee, a local brand that has gained national recognition.

The 2026 D-MAX also introduces an 8-speed automatic gearbox with sequential shift across the range, including the Single Cab variant, making it the first pick-up truck in Malaysia to offer an automatic transmission in that body style.
He highlighted the striking similarities between crafting the perfect cup of coffee and developing a successful table tennis player.

“A great cup of coffee doesn’t happen overnight.

“It begins with a quality coffee bean, carefully planted and nurtured, then harvested, roasted, ground, and finally brewed to perfection.

“Every step requires patience, dedication, and time. Developing a great table tennis player is no different. A talented youngster needs proper guidance, consistent training, and years of dedication before reaching their full potential and succeeding on the national and international stage,” he stated.

Meanwhile, Liaw thanked Yong for the support.

“Yit Foh’s generous support reflects its commitment not only to the success of this national championship, but also to the long-term development of young table tennis talents in the state.

“STTA sincerely thanks them for the support and confidence in the association. Together, we hope to nurture more young talents, inspire the next generation of athletes, and bring greater glory to Sabah and Malaysia,” he said.
