Kota Kinabalu: Mayor Datuk Seri Sabin Samitah led a pre-opening walkabout at Tanjung Aru Perdana Park on Thursday to assess preparations ahead of the park's reopening to the public on Saturday.
The inspection was conducted to ensure the park's facilities and surroundings are safe, clean and ready for visitors following the official handover of its management from the Finance Ministry to the City Hall (DBKK) on June 29.
Perdana Park will operate daily from 7am to 7pm, with its gates closed after operating hours, while parking will remain free until a digital parking payment system is introduced.
DBKK said several areas, including the musical fountain, interactive fountain, children's playground beside the operations office and water dispenser system, will remain closed pending safety assessments, and members of the public are prohibited from entering these areas.
The City Hall said upgrading works will be carried out in stages to improve visitor safety and comfort, while the public is urged to comply with park regulations, including prohibitions on fishing, swimming, barbecues, camping, hawking and other unauthorised activities that require prior DBKK approval.
