MENUMBOK: Four suspects, including a woman, were arrested in two separate drug-related operations in Menumbok, said Beaufort District Police Chief Supt Champin Piuh.
In the first operation, officers from the Beaufort District Narcotics Criminal Investigation Division (BSJND) arrested two men and a woman at a hut on an oil palm plantation in the Bukit Nuri Rural Development Cooperative area.
One suspect was found carrying a bag containing suspected syabu (methamphetamine), while no illegal items were found on the other two.
The case is being investigated under Section 12(2) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952. All three suspects were taken to the BSJND office at the Beaufort District Police Headquarters before being remanded at the Beaufort Police Station lock-up.
In a separate raid, BSJND officers arrested a 35-year-old local man at a house in Menumbok on suspicion of drug abuse. A preliminary urine test returned positive for methamphetamine and amphetamine.
The suspect is being investigated under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
Champin said the Beaufort District Police will continue intensifying operations against drug abuse and trafficking to keep the district free from the threat of illegal drugs.
