PUTRAJAYA: Papar Member of Parliament and Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Minister Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali has congratulated Sabah’s Unduk Ngadau 2026 winner, Gelvia Vanessa Jenny, from Papar, on her appointment as Shopee’s special celebrity for the Shopee Seller Summit 2026.
He said one of the highlights of the programme he attended on Thursday morning was seeing a fellow Papar native featured as one of the event’s main personalities.
He thanked Shopee Malaysia for recognising Gelvia, who hails from Kg Gana in Papar, describing the appointment as a proud achievement for Sabah.
Gelvia, 24, is the third of eight siblings and a final-year Bachelor of Malay Studies student at the University of Malaya.
Armizan said her accomplishments demonstrated that excellence extends beyond academic success, encompassing strong character, self-confidence and a deep appreciation for cultural heritage.
He said the Unduk Ngadau pageant was not merely a beauty competition but a platform showcasing knowledgeable, wise and graceful Sabah women capable of serving as ambassadors of the state’s rich culture and heritage.
“The values embodied by Gelvia make her an inspiration to the younger generation,” he said in a Facebook post on Thursday.
Armizan expressed hope that more Sabahans would be given opportunities to showcase their talents and potential on the national stage.
He also wished Gelvia continued success in her future endeavours.
Earlier, the Shopee Seller Summit 2026, held in Kuala Lumpur on Thursday, brought together digital entrepreneurs, content creators and e-commerce brand owners from across the country.
The event also featured a strategic collaboration between the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living, the Royal Malaysia Police and Shopee Malaysia on initiatives to strengthen safety and security throughout the programme.
