RANAU: Deputy Chief Minister and Sabah Finance Minister Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun urged retired education personnel to continue serving as mentors, advisers and sources of inspiration to the younger generation so their experience and expertise remain beneficial.
He said the knowledge accumulated throughout their careers remained valuable to schools, educational institutions and the wider community in guiding future generations to appreciate knowledge, uphold good values and contribute to the development of Sabah and the nation.
In a speech delivered by his Political Secretary Johari Suhaimin at the Sabah-level Karisma 2026 programme organised by the Malaysian Association of Retired Education Service Officers (5PM) Sabah Branch at the Ranau Community Hall on Saturday, Masidi said retirement marked the beginning of new opportunities to continue contributing, as the spirit of an educator never truly retires.
He said the State Government continued to prioritise human capital development under the Sabah Maju Jaya (SMJ) 2.0 agenda, stressing that the aspirations could not be achieved without the contributions of educators who had laid a strong foundation for the State's education system.
Masidi also expressed hope that the association would remain active in safeguarding members' welfare, strengthening ties and sharing ideas to advance education in Sabah, while the event also celebrated the 60th birthday of Sabah Education Department director Datuk Raisin Saidin.
