Kota Kinabalu: Smart, ethical and responsible consumer practices should continue to be strengthened to help people manage the cost of living while fostering a fair, transparent and accountable trading ecosystem, said Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Minister's Political Secretary Datuk Mohammad Ghazali Hajiji.
Representing the Minister, Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali, at the closing ceremony of the 2026 Sabah Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry (KPDN) Consumer Fiesta here on Saturday, he said consumers should be more aware of their rights and responsibilities by comparing prices, making informed choices and avoiding waste through the collective efforts of the Government, traders and consumers.

Mohammad Ghazali said programmes such as the Consumer Fiesta serve as an important platform to raise public awareness of consumer rights and responsibilities, introduce Government initiatives and strengthen consumer advocacy through direct engagement between the public and KPDN, adding that Sabah KPDN Director Shahril Nizam Shahidin was among those present.
The programme featured various activities, including the X-Cape Consumer Awareness Exploration competition, a children's colouring contest, the Battle of the Bands competition involving higher education students, a Kahoot quiz, busking performances and prize presentations, as well as the presentation of Ihsan Food Bank (i-FB) contributions to UiTM Sabah Branch, IPG Gaya Campus and Kota Kinabalu Polytechnic.
Mohammad Ghazali congratulated KPDN Sabah, participating Government agencies, strategic partners, exhibitors and all parties involved in making the event a success, expressing hope that the knowledge gained throughout the programme would be shared with families and the wider community to promote wiser and more responsible consumer practices.
