Kota Kinabalu Journalists Association to host blood donation drive
Kota Kinabalu: The Kota Kinabalu Journalists Association KKJA will hold a blood donation drive on July 19 from 10am to 5pm at the ground floor of ITCC in Penampang in conjunction with Journalists Day, with Dong Sin Food Sdn Bhd sponsoring dried noodles as gifts for donors.

KKJA Chairman Datuk Jimmy Goh said the drive is one of the association’s annual charity events aimed at giving back to the community and easing the blood shortage faced by hospitals.

“This year, we are targeting to collect 150 pints of blood, and we hope this can bring hope to patients who urgently need transfusions. We are grateful to Dong Sin Food executive director James Ha for his continued support of this cause. He has led Dong Sin Food to become a well known local noodle brand while also upholding the spirit of giving back to society,” he said.

Dong Sin Food, established 29 years ago, operates factories in Kota Kinabalu, Sandakan and Tawau. Its Nanyang Flavour dried noodle range includes Sabah dry tossed noodles, curry noodles, pepper noodles and prawn soup noodles, each sold in two-person economy packs.

The 2026 D-MAX also introduces an 8-speed automatic gearbox with sequential shift across the range, including the Single Cab variant, making it the first pick-up truck in Malaysia to offer an automatic transmission in that body style.
The noodles are popular among local families and tourists and are regarded as one of Sabah’s specialty souvenirs.

Organising committee chairman Yap Siong Han urged members of the public who meet the eligibility requirements to take part in the drive.

“Donating blood helps save lives and reflects the spirit of community solidarity. We also welcome sponsorship from businesses and individuals who wish to support this cause,” he said.

Yap, who is also the association’s training director, can be contacted at 016-802 2104 for further details on the event or on sponsorship.
