RANAU: The spirit of volunteerism and community service was on full display as members of the public donated blood during a community blood donation programme officiated by Ranau Member of Parliament Datuk Jonathan Yasin at the Kampung Pasir Putih Multipurpose Hall on Saturday.
Jointly organised by the Ranau Malaysian Veterans Association (PVATM) and KDCA Ranau, the programme aimed to replenish blood supplies at Ranau Hospital while raising public awareness of the importance of regular blood donation.
In his speech, Jonathan praised the organisers for spearheading the initiative, describing it as a meaningful effort that reflected the community’s compassion and willingness to help those in need.
He also thanked healthcare personnel from Lohan Health Clinic, the Blood Bank Unit and Organ Donation Unit of Ranau Hospital, as well as social media influencers and volunteers whose support contributed to the programme’s success.
Jonathan reserved special recognition for the blood donors, praising their generosity and selflessness in giving something that cannot be manufactured but has the power to save lives.
“Every bag of blood donated today represents hope for patients requiring emergency treatment, surgery or ongoing medical care. Your willingness to donate is a priceless gift that may one day save a life,” he said.
