Kota Kinabalu: Kota Kinabalu High School (KKHS) celebrated its best Form Six examination performance in the past five years by honouring 19 outstanding Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM) students and four Malaysian University English Test (Muet) achievers during an award ceremony held at the school auditorium.

The school recorded an impressive cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 3.08, its highest achievement in five years, with five students obtaining a perfect CGPA of 4.00 in the 2025 STPM examination.

The 2026 D-MAX also introduces an 8-speed automatic gearbox with sequential shift across the range, including the Single Cab variant, making it the first pick-up truck in Malaysia to offer an automatic transmission in that body style.
The school’s highest honour, the Most Outstanding Student Award, was presented to Chang Jing Lun in recognition of his excellent academic performance, active participation in co-curricular activities and exemplary leadership qualities.

As Chang was attending a university scholarship interview in Kuala Lumpur, the award was received on his behalf by his mother. Expressing his gratitude, Chang said he was honoured to receive the award despite the presence of many deserving candidates.

“This recognition means a great deal to me, not only as a reward but also as a reminder that consistent effort and perseverance do not go unnoticed.

“I am deeply grateful to my Form Six teachers, parents and friends for their guidance and unwavering support throughout this journey,” he said.

The ceremony was attended by Board of Governors Chairman Datuk Lim Kiat Kong, Parent-Teacher Association President Tan Hock Siong, Alumni President Richard Chong, school administrators, Form Six lecturers, parents and students.

School Principal Lily Wong Bitt Lee congratulated the lecturers and students on their achievement, describing the results as a testament to their hard work and dedication. However, she reminded students not to be complacent and to continue striving for greater success.

“Today’s excellent results are a testament to your hard work, but they are not a guarantee of tomorrow’s success. Continuous effort, discipline and diligence remain essential.

“Above all, stay humble. Humility allows us to inspire others and become a beacon to society,” she said.

Lim echoed the principal’s message, stressing that academic excellence alone is insufficient for long-term success.

“Academic excellence may open doors, but it may not keep those doors open. More important than academic achievement is emotional intelligence because it enables us to respect others and become responsible, functional members of society,” he said.

He also encouraged students to embrace lifelong learning, acknowledge their mistakes, cultivate humility and persevere through challenges.

“Good habits are more powerful than motivation. Motivation comes and goes, but good habits remain for life. The small actions we practise consistently today can eventually lead to extraordinary achievements,” he said.

The ceremony concluded with a fellowship session involving guests, lecturers, parents and students to celebrate the collective effort behind the school’s success.

The event not only recognised academic excellence but also highlighted the importance of nurturing compassionate, resilient and responsible individuals who can contribute meaningfully to society.
