LAHAD DATU: Marine police and the Malaysian Palm Oil Board (MPOB) seized palm oil kernels and assets worth more than RM600,000 during a raid on a premise along Jalan POIC, here, on Tuesday.

Sabah Marine Police (Region Four) Commander ACP Ahmad Amri Abd Rahman said several workers were believed to have fled the premises upon noticing the presence of enforcement officers.

He said the team managed to confiscate a large quantity of palm kernels suspected of being stored without a valid licence.

“The joint operation was part of ongoing efforts to address the unlawful storage and handling of palm kernels.

“The team also seized assets believed used in the activity,” he said, adding the case is being investigated under the Malaysian Palm Oil Board Act 1998 (Act 582).

Ahmad Amri, in a statement on Wednesday, said marine police would continue strengthening cooperation with other enforcement agencies to curb unlawful activities and safeguard the interests of the country’s palm oil industry.
