Kota Kinabalu: Marshall Jaydden Jerry, 20, from Papar, clinched the senior world champion title in the recent Muaythai competition held in Kuala Lumpur.
Competing in the U24 Male Waikru category, Marshall defeated nine contestants from the Philippines, Iraq, Ukraine and Malaysia (Team A) to secure the gold medal.

His victory not only marked a personal milestone but also added a prestigious accolade to Malaysia’s sporting achievements.
A former Form 6 student of SMK Majakir, Papar, Marshall expressed his pride in contributing a gold medal to Malaysia.
“It was a tough game as every contestant had their own strength,” he said.
In addition to the championship, Marshall was also honoured with the Fair Play Award, a recognition of his sportsmanship and discipline.
Having joined Muaythai at the age of 10, Marshall has consistently trained and developed his skills. He shared that the sport has given him self-confidence, discipline, tolerance, and physical endurance.
Nor forgetting, he expressed his heartfelt gratitude to his coach Rozaimy Ahad, acknowledging the lessons and hard work that guided him to victory.
“This is only the beginning,” Marshall said, adding that he is determined to achieve more championships in the future.
Meanwhile, the president of Tambuakar Martial Arts Club, Papar, Jerry Embang, extended his congratulations to Marshall, praising the glory he brought to Sabah and Malaysia.
He also highlighted the success of other club members who excelled in their respective categories. At the IFMA Senior World Muaythai Championship, Jezzevelle Myora Jerry triumphed in the Senior Female Waikru Solo category, while Eva Anatasia Warren competed in the U24 Female 48kg category.
In the 1st IFMA Muaythai School World Championship, Evan Arron Warren earned a certificate, Christy Siow secured a silver medal, Eldaniella Mayriebel and Eldrianna Mayrielle both won gold medals, Siti Nur Hawani claimed a bronze medal, and Bryce Jozender Juil received a certificate.
All of the athletes were proudly trained under the Tambuakar Martial Arts Club, reflecting the club’s dedication to nurturing talent and producing champions in Muaythai.
