PENAMPANG: The Social Security Organisation (Socso) Sabah is targeting more than 5,000 visitors for the MYFutureJobs X Oil and Gas 2026 career carnival, the first of its kind to be held in the State.
Socso Sabah Employment Service Officer Khairul Karnawi said the carnival, dedicated to the oil and gas sector, will be held at the Sabah International Convention Centre from July 22 to 23 and is expected to be officiated by the Chief Minister.

He said youths, fresh graduates and Technical and Vocational Education and Training students keen on building a career in the industry are encouraged to attend.
“A total of 30 leading oil and gas employers, including Hibiscus Petroleum, Perdana Petroleum and Jadestone Energy, will hold open interview sessions throughout the carnival,” he said.
“To help job seekers highlight their potential, we are also providing career counselling counters and resume review services by industry experts to improve the quality of their Curriculum Vitae and boost their marketability,” he added.
Khairul said this to reporters after paying a courtesy visit to Information Department (Japen) Sabah Director Jainisah Mohd Noor at the Sabah Japen headquarters here on Wednesday.
Besides job opportunities, he said the carnival will also feature an interactive Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics exhibition by Petrosains to nurture interest among the younger generation in the field.
Visitors will also have the opportunity to gain knowledge and inspiration through a sharing session with industry expert Pak Tam Nizam Ahmad, who will speak on his experience in the oil and gas sector, he said.
Meanwhile, Jainisah said the strategic collaboration between Sabah Japen and Socso is important to ensure information on government services reaches communities in both urban and rural areas.
She said some members of the public are still unaware that Socso not only provides social protection for workers but also plays a key role in helping job seekers secure employment opportunities, including through initiatives such as the MyFutureJobs career carnival.
Jainisah encouraged youths and job seekers interested in the oil and gas industry to attend the carnival to explore the career opportunities on offer.
