Kota Kinabalu: Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) Deputy President Datuk Yong Wui Chung, who has been officially appointed as the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Sedco Precast Sdn. Bhd, pledged to further strengthen the company’s competitiveness and long-term sustainability.
He said he will be working closely with the Board and management to discuss the company’s future direction and strategic priorities.
“As a Government Linked Company (GLC), Sedco Precast, a subsidiary of Sedcp Group, plays an important role in supporting Sabah’s infrastructure development and economic growth.
“I am looking forward to working closely with the Board and management team to strengthen the company’s strategic direction, improve operational efficiency, and ensure that all initiatives are aligned with Sabah’s development agenda,” Yong said here on Monday.
He said the company will continue to uphold the principles of good corporate governance, transparency, and accountability, ensuring that its management remains professional, efficient, and responsive to the expectations of stakeholders.
In today’s rapidly evolving economic environment, he added the company must remain agile and adaptable while pursuing sustainable growth and creating long term value for both the company and the State’s economy.
“The crucial role of the Board of Directors in corporate governance, encouraging open, constructive, and objective discussions to ensure that every decision is made based on careful consideration and the collective wisdom of the Board.
“Hence, I am confident that, with the experience, professionalism, and integrity of the Board members, Sedco Precast will continue to achieve greater success, creating lasting value for shareholders, stakeholders, and the people of Sabah,” Yong said.
While maintaining strong financial performance remains essential, he said Sedco Precast must also continue fulfilling its social responsibility as a GLC by contributing meaningfully to Sabah’s socio-economic development.
Yong also expressed his sincere appreciation to the Sabah State Government, LDP President Datuk Chin Su Phin, and the Sabah Economic Development Corporation (Sedco) for their trust and confidence in appointing him to the position.
He said the appointment is not merely an honour, but a significant responsibility.
He also extended his gratitude to the former Chairman and previous Board members for their dedication and contributions in laying a strong foundation for the company’s growth, describing their efforts as an important platform for Sedco Precast to reach greater heights.
