Kota Kinabalu: Sabah Action Body Advocating Rights (Sabar) Secretariat Peninsular Malaysia has condemned the declaration of an entity calling itself the "Republic of Sabah North Borneo", describing it as an illegal movement with no legal standing.
Its chairman, Muhammad Faisal Mohamad Mohidin (

He said efforts to uphold Sabah's rights must remain rooted in the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63), the Federal Constitution and the rule of law, adding that Sabah's status as a founding partner of Malaysia was established through a lawful process and is internationally recognised.
Muhammad Faisal said the self-declared entity has no territorial authority, diplomatic recognition or legitimate governing power under international law, and stressed that Sabar remains committed to pursuing Sabah's rights under MA63 through constitutional and lawful channels.
He also urged the Royal Malaysia Police and the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission to investigate and take appropriate action against anyone found supporting or promoting the movement, while calling on Sabahans to remain united and safeguard the state's rights through lawful and constitutional means.
