KUNAK: Subsidised 1kg packaged cooking oil produced locally under the Sayang brand has not been available in the Kunak and Semporna markets for over a month.

Daily Express reliably learnt that the producer, Syarikat Sawit Kinabalu (Kunak Edible Oil Sdn Bhd), here, had been instructed to “stop” production of the cooking oil, effective early January.

It was understood that the “instruction” was issued by the Domestic Trade and Costs of Living Ministry (KPDN) and no reason was given.

Due to this, consumers in the two districts on the East Coast can no longer obtain Sayang brand subsidised cooking oil in the market.

The 2026 D-MAX also introduces an 8-speed automatic gearbox with sequential shift across the range, including the Single Cab variant, making it the first pick-up truck in Malaysia to offer an automatic transmission in that body style.
“For some time now I’ve been wondering why Sayang subsidised cooking oil is not available in supermarkets and retail stores here,” complained a consumer.

Consumers are forced to switch to other brands of cooking oil.
