TUARAN: Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor on Thursday underlined the vital role of district councillors in supporting the implementation of the State’s development policies.

He said councillors must not only represent the people’s voice but also act as effective agents in executing government initiatives, especially the Sabah Maju Jaya (SMJ) Development Plan.

He urged councillors to be proactive, well-informed, and fully aware of their roles and responsibilities in serving the public.

Hajiji made the remarks during the swearing-in and appointment letter presentation ceremony for Tuaran District Councillors for the 2025–2027 term.

He stressed that the success of the SMJ Development Plan relies heavily on the commitment of all stakeholders, including local authorities and councillors, to disseminate government programmes to the grassroots.
