Kota Kinabalu: The Malaysian and Australian findings on the Double Six tragedy will still be an “Official Secret” today – the 50th anniversary of the Nomad air crash that claimed 11 lives – had Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim not become the Prime Minister in 2020.
“The arrogance and total disregard by past prime ministers for 47 years to repeated pleas for closure by families of the victims and Sabahans, in general, is not what they expected under the Malaysia Agreement 1963,” said Daily Express Chief Editor, Datuk James Sarda, JP.
He said successive Federal Governments since Tun Hussein Onn all said “No!” when it came to declassifying the findings.
However, he said, it would have been even better had Anwar issued a collective apology to the families and Harris, who suffered from the non-disclosure.
