BEAUFORT: The Mini Civil-Military Cooperation (Cimic) Carnival organised by the Eastern Field Command of the Malaysian Army (PMTTD) at Dataran Bagandang on Saturday drew strong participation from the local community and was officiated by Eastern Field Commander Lt Gen Datuk Mohd Sofi Md Lepi.
The programme featured exhibitions showcasing the Malaysian Army's assets and capabilities, Territorial Army recruitment, a military band performance, unarmed combat demonstrations, children's activities and other events highlighting the Army's role, functions and readiness in safeguarding national security.
Mohd Sofi said the carnival also involved 18 government and private agencies providing services, welfare initiatives, educational and awareness exhibitions, including the Rahmah Madani Sale, to benefit visitors through information, services and affordable essential goods.
He said the event supports the implementation of the National Defence Strategic Plan 2026-2030 while enhancing public understanding of the Malaysian Army's roles and responsibilities during peacetime, as well as serving as a platform to strengthen Whole-of-Government and Whole-of-Society collaboration.
Mohd Sofi thanked parents for bringing their children and teenagers to the programme, expressing hope that the activities and exhibitions would encourage greater interest in the Malaysian Army, while visitors also showed keen interest in displays by the Fire and Rescue Department, Prisons Department, Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency and Health Department.
