LABUAN: A former Labuan Municipal Councillor has slammed the Labuan Corporation (LC) for poor maintenance of the interlocking drive way at the busy Lazenda Commercial Centre resulting in him sustaining a fall and a knee fracture.

Edward Kong said when he walked along the driveway to get to his car, there was a depression on the road covered with a pool of water.

“I stepped on it, slipped and landed with a knee fracture which has not fully healed even after three months undergoing surgery in Kuala Lumpur which caused a bundle.”

He said incident also grossly affected his mobility and mental stress and had to walk with a crutch.

Edward said such dangerous spots were seen by near the Singapore Chicken Rice and Beyond bar and had months ago informed the LC.

“But has been given the standard response of no budget but ironically there was ample funds for other projects including some of no value,” said Edward.

He stressed that public safety should be a priority of local authority else where it could for the mishap on a public road.

He hoped that with this incident the LC would speed up action and not wait for a even more serious case.
