Kota Kinabalu: The Institution of Engineers Malaysia (IEM) Sabah branch pledged support for the State’s infrastructure development agenda during a courtesy call on Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Mustapha Sakmud at his office, here, Monday.
IEM Sabah Chairman Tan KJ said the institution is ready to contribute its professional expertise and technical knowledge to help the Government plan, design, implement and maintain critical infrastructure projects.
“As the leading professional engineering institution in the State, IEM Sabah is committed to working closely with the Government and relevant stakeholders to promote engineering excellence, innovation and sustainability.
“We believe that sound engineering practices are fundamental to delivering infrastructure that is safe, resilient and capable of meeting Sabah’s future development needs,” he said.
The meeting brought together the engineering profession and the Government to discuss ways to strengthen collaboration on sustainable and resilient infrastructure development for the State.
Both parties exchanged views on a range of infrastructure-related issues and other strategic engineering initiatives seen as essential to supporting Sabah’s economic growth and improving the quality of life of its people.
Mustapha welcomed the visit and thanked IEM Sabah for its continued support and contributions towards nation building.
He acknowledged the important role played by professional engineers in ensuring that infrastructure projects are well planned, efficiently implemented and aligned with the aspirations of the Madani Government.
Both sides agreed on the importance of maintaining close engagement and strengthening cooperation to address Sabah’s infrastructure challenges through practical, sustainable and innovative engineering solutions.
The meeting ended with a shared commitment to fostering stronger collaboration between the Government and the engineering profession in support of Sabah’s long term infrastructure development and sustainable economic progress.
