Tuaran: Two people were injured, while another escaped unhurt after the Proton Saga they were travelling in skidded and crashed along Jalan Kampung Berungis here on Sunday.
Tuaran Fire and Rescue Chief Kurong Beki said the department received an emergency call at 10.31pm.
“The team found the Proton Saga had skidded on its own, with one victim trapped inside. Firefighters used special equipment to extricate the victim before handing them over to the Emergency Medical Response Services team for initial treatment,” he said.
He said the 54-year-old driver and a 48-year-old passenger were injured, while a 43-year-old passenger was unhurt.
Both injured victims were sent to Tuaran Hospital for treatment.
The operation, involving police and the Health Ministry, ended at 11.03pm after firefighters confirmed the area was safe.
In a separate incident the same night, a Perodua Kancil was destroyed in a fire at Kampung Lapasan, Telipok.
Kurong said firefighters received a call at 9.44pm and arrived at 10.03pm to find the vehicle fully engulfed in flames. No victims were involved.
The fire was brought under control at 10.15pm and completely extinguished at 10.30pm.
