SIPITANG: Police are stepping up efforts to tackle bullying in schools following the enforcement of the Anti-Bullying Act 2026 (Act 876), with 450 students and 20 teachers joining an awareness programme at SMK Padang Berampah.
Sipitang District Police Chief Supt Awang Anak Suanda said the programme was organised by the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) through its Crime Prevention and Community Safety Department (BPJKK), together with Amanita officers and School Liaison Officers (PPS).
The programme aimed to help students better understand the dangers of bullying, learn about the role of Amanita, and find out what the new Anti-Bullying Act means.
Police officers Insp Shantini Devi Ravichandran and Insp Rexy Fernanzelle Anak Peter Minda spoke to students about the different types of bullying, the legal consequences bullies may face, and why it is important to treat others with respect and avoid negative influences.
Students also visited a crime awareness exhibition and joined an interactive session where they could ask questions and talk about safety issues in their schools and hostels.
Awang said programmes like this are part of PDRM’s ongoing efforts to stop bullying before it happens by educating students and raising awareness.
He added that the school appreciated the police’s support and hoped the partnership would continue to help create a safe, welcoming and positive learning environment for all students.
