BEAUFORT: Three local men were arrested in separate drug abuse operations carried out by Beaufort police recently.
Beaufort District Police Chief Supt Champin Piuh said the suspects, aged 37, 35 and 33, all tested positive for methamphetamine and amphetamine during preliminary urine screenings.
In the first case, he said a 37-year-old man was arrested during a roadside operation at Kg Berangkok in Kuala Penyu after police suspected him of involvement in drug abuse.
In the second case, police conducted a urine screening on a 33-year-old man who had earlier been detained by the Beaufort District Criminal Investigation Division (BSJD).
In a separate operation, Champin said police arrested a 35-year-old local man during a roadside raid at Kg Lupak here on suspicion of involvement in drug abuse.
“All three suspects tested positive for drug substances believed to be methamphetamine and amphetamine.
“All three suspects have been detained for further action, with the cases being investigated under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952,” he said on Monday.
Champin said Beaufort police would continue to intensify efforts to combat drug abuse and take firm action against individuals involved in drug-related activities to safeguard public safety and community well-being.
