LAHAD DATU: Police arrested a local man and a foreigner suspected of involvement in drug-related activities during “Op Tapis” on Sunday.
Lahad Datu District Police Chief ACP Dzulbaharin Ismail said the suspects were detained in separate operations carried out by the Narcotics Crime Investigation Division in Kg Puyut and Jalan Pantai.
During the raids, police seized 5.36 grammes of drugs believed to be syabu, estimated to be worth RM589.60.
“Urine tests conducted on the two suspects, aged 33 and 37, found both positive for methamphetamine and amphetamine.
“One of the suspects also has a previous criminal record related to drug offences,” he said, adding that both men had been remanded to assist in investigations.
According to Dzulbaharin, the case is being investigated under Section 12(2), Section 39A(1) and Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
He said investigations are ongoing to identify and track down other individuals linked to the drug syndicate.
