Final arrangements are currently being carried out involving competition management, venue readiness, accommodation for contingents, transportation, logistics, security, cleanliness, medical services and the coordination of organising committees.

Ranau District Education Officer Barizah Mohd Kahar said hosting the State’s biggest schools athletics championship was both an honour and a responsibility that the district was determined to fulfil to the highest standard.

“We are deeply honoured that Ranau has been entrusted with hosting the 58th MSS Sabah Athletics Championships. The Ranau District Education Office, together with the organising committee and various supporting agencies, has been working tirelessly to ensure every aspect of the championship is well prepared.”

“We warmly welcome all 24 district contingents to Ranau and hope every athlete, team manager and official will enjoy a competitive yet friendly atmosphere that promotes sportsmanship, unity and lasting friendships,” she said.

Barizah said the championship represents much more than a sporting competition, describing it as an important platform for discovering and nurturing future sporting talent while shaping students into disciplined, confident and resilient individuals.

She noted that participation in school sports plays a significant role in developing leadership qualities, teamwork, perseverance and self-confidence, in line with the aspirations of Malaysia’s education system to produce well-rounded students.

Beyond the pursuit of medals, she said the championship provides young athletes with invaluable competitive exposure and experience that will prepare them for higher levels of competition in the years ahead.

The championship is also expected to strengthen cooperation and camaraderie among schools and districts across Sabah, bringing together students from diverse backgrounds through a shared passion for athletics.

Barizah expressed appreciation to the Sabah State Education Department, all District Education Offices, government agencies, security forces, strategic partners, volunteers and the people of Ranau for their unwavering commitment and support in making the championship possible.

She added that the success of an event of this scale depends on the collective efforts of numerous organisations and individuals working behind the scenes to ensure every participant can compete in a safe and conducive environment.

Members of the public are encouraged to attend the championships at the Ranau Sports Complex throughout the competition to support Sabah’s young athletes as they compete across various track and field events.

With participation from all 24 districts, the championship is expected to be one of the largest school sporting events in Sabah this year.

Beyond showcasing the State’s finest young athletes, the championship is also set to reinforce Ranau’s reputation as a capable host for major state-level sporting events while inspiring a new generation of student-athletes to pursue excellence both on and off the field.
