SANDAKAN: Police issued a total of 22 traffic summonses for various offences during an “Op Mabuk” conducted by the Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Division BSPT) of the Sandakan District Police Headquarters (IPD) at Batu 4, Jalan Utara, on Saturday.
Sandakan District Police Chief ACP George Abd Rakman said the summonses were issued to motorists found committing various offences under the Road Transport Act and related traffic regulations.

He said the operation, conducted on July 11, involved one senior officer and nine personnel from the BSPT.
“Two motorists underwent breathalyser tests using an alcohol detection device to determine their blood alcohol content while driving.
“Comprehensive inspections were also carried out on all road users to ensure compliance with traffic laws and regulations, while detecting other traffic-related offences,” he said.
George said police would continue to intensify enforcement operations from time to time to enhance road safety and reduce the risk of accidents.
He also advised all road users to comply with traffic laws and regulations at all times to safeguard their own safety as well as that of other road users.
