PAPAR: A 15-year-old boy drowned in a river near Kaiduan Luluba Eco-Tourism here on Sunday while swimming with friends.
"We received an emergency call at 12.30 in the afternoon through 999," said Papar Fire and Rescue Station Chief Rony Sikawan on Sunday.

"Upon receiving the call, our station immediately dispatched our team to the scene,” he said.
He said the team travelled 33 kilometres and arrived at the scene at 1.10 pm, where they found that the victim had drowned.
Rony said members of the public had already found the victim before the arrival of the team, who performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation on him.
He said the boy was later pronounced dead at the scene by the medical officers.

The body was handed over to the police for further action.
