TAWAU: More than 18 commercial vehicles of various licence classes were inspected during an integrated enforcement operation in the district on Thursday to ensure compliance with transport regulations.
The operation, which began at 9.30am, involved stage buses, Class A carrier licence holders operating public and commercial transport, Class C carrier licence holders operating private and own-account transport, as well as e-hailing vehicles.
In a statement, the Sabah Commercial Vehicle Licensing Board (LPKP Sabah) said the operation was conducted jointly with the District Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Division (BSPTD) and the National Anti-Drugs Agency (AADK) Tawau.
The operation focused on inspecting the safety features of commercial vehicles and ensuring compliance with licence conditions.
During the operation, officers found several operators had failed to comply with licence requirements, particularly the requirement to display vehicle body markings as stipulated by LPKP Sabah.
Enforcement officers issued three notices to operators found to have breached the regulations governing their carrier licences.

LPKP Sabah said integrated enforcement operations with relevant departments and agencies would continue to be conducted periodically throughout the State to ensure licence holders comply with the regulations.
It said the operations are aimed at improving road safety and ensuring a safer, more orderly public and commercial transport system.
