Tenom: Negeri Sembilan retained their title at the 30th Maba–Matrix National Basketball Championship 2026 after defeating Putrajaya 93-63 in the final at Dewan Sri Panglima Antanom on Saturday.
The victory earned Negeri Sembilan their eighth championship title, along with RM5,000 in prize money and a trophy. Putrajaya finished second to receive RM2,500, while Johor claimed third place and RM1,000. Host team Sabah placed fourth and received RM500.
The tournament featured eight of Malaysia’s top teams and served as a platform to discover new talent while promoting the growth of basketball in the country.
Sabah Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food Industry and Melalap Assemblyman Datuk Jamawi Jaffar officiated the closing ceremony and presented prizes to the winners.
In his speech, Jamawi said the tournament received strong support from basketball fans, especially in Tenom, and hoped more national-level championships would be held in the district.
He added that such events help athletes develop their skills while boosting local tourism and the economy.

Jamawi also contributed RM25,000 to support the organisation of the 30th Maba–Matrix National Basketball Championship 2026.
