Pedestrian dies after being hit by four-wheel-drive

PENAMPANG: 77-year-old local man was killed after he was hit by a four-wheel-drive vehicle while walking in here, early Tuesday.

District Police Chief Supt Sammy Newton said preliminary investigations found the vehicle, driven by a 52-year-old local man, was travelling from Jalan Bundusan towards Taman Adamas when it allegedly struck the pedestrian.

The victim was thrown into a roadside drain and suffered serious injuries before being pronounced dead at the scene by a medical officer.

His body was taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital I for a post-mortem, while the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
