Kota Kinabalu: The Sabah Housing and Real Estate Developers Association (Shareda) will introduce a dedicated Secondary Market Corner at PropEX 2026 for the first time, allowing prospective buyers to compare pre-owned homes with new property developments under one roof.
Shareda President Datuk Johnny Wong Chen Yee said the new segment reflects the association's expanded role in representing both the housing and real estate sectors while providing more options, particularly for first-time buyers seeking more affordable resale properties.
He said PropEX 2026, to be held at the Kinabatangan Hall of the Sabah International Convention Centre from July 10 to 12, will feature about 10 booths operated by real estate agencies marketing secondary market residential properties alongside new developments, and will be officiated by the Minister of Local Government and Housing, Datuk Dr Mohd Arifin Mohd Arif.
Johnny said developers have informed Shareda that prices for completed, ongoing and previously launched projects have largely remained unchanged despite geopolitical tensions in the Middle East, although pricing for future launches will depend on whether developers absorb higher construction costs.
He said rising construction costs could eventually push property prices in Sabah up by between 10 and 15 per cent, urging first-time buyers and investors to take advantage of current pricing by visiting PropEX 2026.
