Budi Diesel quota to be reviewed based on usage data
Amir addresses a press conference on Sunday.
Kota Kinabalu: Finance Minister II Senator Datuk Seri Amir Hamzah Azizan said the Budi Diesel subsidy quota will be reviewed based on usage data rather than a fixed schedule.

He said this in response to a question on whether there is a built-in review period or trigger point at which the quota structure will be formally reassessed.

He also said that, to date, applications from more than 22,000 pick-up and jeep owners in Sabah, Sarawak and Labuan for an additional 100-litre diesel quota under Budi Diesel have been approved.

He said this during a visit to Shell's kiosk along Jalan UMS here on Saturday.

The 2026 D-MAX also introduces an 8-speed automatic gearbox with sequential shift across the range, including the Single Cab variant, making it the first pick-up truck in Malaysia to offer an automatic transmission in that body style.
Additionally, he said the reformed system has reduced leakage of subsidised diesel, but added that it is still too early to provide any figures.
