RANAU: A fire destroyed a wooden storage unit and partially damaged a nearby homestay at Puteri Nabalu Lodge in Kundasang on Tuesday.
Ranau Fire and Rescue Station Chief PPgB Rantey Fred said the department received an emergency call through the NG999 system at 5.22pm.

Firefighters arrived at the scene at 5.56pm after travelling about 16km from the station.
The incident drew widespread attention after videos and photographs circulated rapidly on social media, with many users mistakenly claiming that the iconic Puteri Nabalu Restaurant and Nabalu Lodge had been destroyed.
However, the Fire and Rescue Department confirmed that although the fire occurred within the Puteri Nabalu Lodge compound, the blaze was confined to the storage unit and a nearby homestay.
The main restaurant building was not affected.
