MP contributes RM87,000 to Penampang school, churches

PENAMPANG: Penampang MP Datuk Ewon Benedick channelled contributions totalling RM87,000 through the MP’s special allocation to a school, churches and a community organisation in the constituency.

Ewon, who is also Deputy Chief Minister III cum Industrial Development, Entrepreneurship and Transport Minister, said the contribution reflects his commitment to continue supporting organisations that play an important role in community development and well-being of the local community.

“I hope the contribution will help the school, churches and association in carrying out their activities and meeting their respective needs,” he said at the handover ceremony at his service centre office, here.

Of the RM87,000, the Board of Management of SJK (C) Yue Min Penampang received RM50,000, Sidang Injil Borneo (SIB) Church Donggongon RM14,000, SIB Beverly Hills RM13,000 and Persatuan Satuhati Penampang RM10,000.

Meanwhile, SJK (C) Yue Min Penampang Headmaster Brenden Ling Sui Tiing said the contribution would be used to enhance the school’s security system, including upgrading its fire prevention system.

“We will make the best possible use of this contribution to improve safety at the school. Thank you for the concern for the welfare and safety of our students. We hope he will continue to provide assistance for the benefit of the children at our school,” he said.

SIB Donggongon Church Chief Jonathan Gisong, representing the church leadership, also expressed appreciation for the contribution.

He said the assistance would be used to meet the church’s needs, including the purchase of an audio system and multimedia equipment to support the implementation of various programmes and activities.

SIB Beverly Hills Chairman Elder Samin, together with Deputy Chairman Elder Lamat, said the contribution was very meaningful in helping to meet the church’s needs.

Ewon also received a visit from Kadazandusun language writer, Cikgu Fidelis Sipangkui. During the meeting, he presented a contribution to support the writing and publication of Kadazandusun language books currently being undertaken.
