Kota Kinabalu: The Federation of Malaysian Manufacturing (FMM) Sabah Branch paid a courtesy call on the newly appointed Sabah State Secretary Datuk Zainudin Aman at his official office in Menara Kinabalu.
The visit provided an opportunity for the branch to congratulate him on his recent appointment, succeeding Datuk Seri Safar Untong, while also serving as a platform for both parties to discuss and exchange views on matters related to the manufacturing sector.

During the meeting, FMM Sabah Branch Chairman Liaw highlighted several key issues, including the unresolved port yard congestion issue at Sepanggar Bay Container Port, which, together with demurrage charges and yard congestion surcharges, has resulted in higher product costs and affected import and export activities.
“I propose that industry stakeholders should be given the opportunity to participate in meetings and discussions involving Government-Linked Companies (GLCs) to enhance collaboration and further support the development of Sabah’s industrial sector,” he said on Monday.
Other matters discussed included the resumption of the Sabah Labour Advisory Council as a platform for engagement between the Government and industry stakeholders, as well as FMM’s ongoing efforts to advocate talent development and future collaboration to address the skills mismatch gap.
During the meeting, Liaw emphasised the need for sustainable solutions to address the challenges faced by the manufacturing sector and expressed optimism regarding future collaboration with the State Government.

Zainudin welcomed FMM’s recommendations and expressed his support for initiatives that would strengthen Sabah’s industry sector and contribute to the State’s development agenda.
