Tuaran: Hawkers and petty traders operating along roadsides in the Sulaman area will receive a cash assistance of RM3,000 each, said Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor.
Hajiji, who is also Sulaman Assemblyman, said he had instructed the Tuaran District Officer to compile a list of the petty traders in Sulaman so that the cash assistance could be distributed.

“As the people’s representative for this area, I have made this promise, and I hope to receive the list within the nearest possible time,” he said when officiating the Entrepreneurs Carnival and STEM X Challenge held in conjunction with the FIFA World Cup 2026 Final at the Bajau Sama Cultural Centre in Lok Batik, here, on Sunday.
Hajiji said he understood the needs of petty traders, many of whom were in urgent need of such assistance.
Meanwhile, he said the organisation of the Entrepreneurs Carnival and STEM X Challenge was highly significant as it could help small entrepreneurs grow their businesses.
“It provides encouragement and opportunities for small entrepreneurs, especially the youths to continue pursuing their business activities.

“Not everyone can work as a government officer, but we can venture into business and become entrepreneurs.
“If we succeed as entrepreneurs, it can generate better income. The most important thing is that we must be hardworking and not be ashamed,” he said.
The Chief Minister said the Government also provides various forms of assistance to entrepreneurs, particularly youths, to help them progress.
On the STEM X Challenge, he said the Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) fields are crucial in today’s modern era.
“It is very important for our children to master STEM because these fields are essential for achieving success and are vital to the development of the nation and society,” he said.
He added that the programme, inspired by the FIFA World Cup 2026, also conveyed the message that the spirit of sportsmanship could be translated into the fields of education and innovation.
“Just as sports demand discipline, strategy, teamwork and a strong fighting spirit, STEM and entrepreneurship require the same qualities to achieve success,” he said.
