LDP leader says Sanusi's remarks undermine national unity
Kota Kinabalu: Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) Vice President David Ong has condemned PAS leader Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor's "Tanah Melayu" remarks as divisive and urged the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) to investigate the matter.

Ong said Malaysia is founded on unity, mutual respect and the Federal Constitution, adding that while it recognises the special position of the Malays and the Bumiputera of Sabah and Sarawak, it is also the homeland of every Malaysian regardless of race or religion.

He said the remarks ignored the reality that generations of Chinese, Indians, Kadazan-Dusuns, Muruts and other Malaysians were born here and contributed to nation-building, adding that Malaysia was formed in 1963 on the principles of partnership, mutual respect and shared nationhood.

Ong said the remarks were particularly unacceptable to Sabahans, stressing that Sabah and Sarawak joined Malaysia as equal partners under the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63), and any statement distorting that history was contrary to its spirit.

The 2026 D-MAX also introduces an 8-speed automatic gearbox with sequential shift across the range, including the Single Cab variant, making it the first pick-up truck in Malaysia to offer an automatic transmission in that body style.
He urged PDRM to determine whether the remarks breached laws on public order and racial harmony, and called on political leaders to uphold the Federal Constitution, respect Malaysia's diversity and reject divisive rhetoric.
