Jeffrey urges united Sabah bloc in parliament
Jeffrey said a united bloc in Parliament could become a decisive force in championing the rights of Sabah and Sarawak while ensuring the development agenda of both regions continues to receive due attention from the Federal Government.
Kota Kinabalu: Borneo Dayak Forum President Datuk Seri Jeffrey Kitingan called on Sabah and Sarawak to remain united in defending their shared rights and interests as Malaysia’s founding territories.

He said both regions should continue to move forward as one team, stressing that unity is key to safeguarding the rights of Sabah and Sarawak for future generations.

To strengthen Borneo’s voice at the national level, Jeffrey proposed the formation of a Borneo Bloc through the Gabungan Parti Sarawak Sabah (GPSS), bringing together political parties from both territories.

He said a united bloc in Parliament could become a decisive force in championing the rights of Sabah and Sarawak while ensuring the development agenda of both regions continues to receive due attention from the Federal Government.

Jeffrey said the Sarawak Day celebration is more than an annual event, describing it as an occasion to remember the sacrifices of past leaders who defended the rights, dignity and position of Sarawak and Sabah as Malaysia’s founding territories.

He was speaking at the 722 Sarawak Day and Tasik Biru Cultural Parade 2026 celebration.

The event was attended by people from various communities to commemorate July 22, marking Sarawak’s attainment of self-government.

Jeffrey was welcomed with lion and Bidayuh dance performances before a flag-raising ceremony accompanied by the Fair Land Sarawak and Ibu Pertiwi anthems.

The programme also featured cultural performances showcasing Borneo’s diverse heritage, followed by the flag-off of the Tasik Biru Cultural Parade 2026.
