KOTA KINABALU: Kota Kinabalu table tennis team has claimed the overall title at the Sabah School Sports Council (MSSS) tennis competition held in Sandakan from July 14-16.
They accumulated a total of 426 points to claim the top spot, with Sandakan trailing in second place with 347 points and Tawau in third with 239 points.

They captured the boys’ team U-12 title and finished as runners-up in the girls’ U-12 and boys’ U-18, while the girls came in third in the team’s U-18 event.
In the individual category, they made a clean sweep in the boys’ under-12 with Aaron Yang taking the gold. Runner-up went to Mohd Azeemiwafiy Asman, while Irfan Fayyadh Mohd Fariz and Marcus Liew finished in third and fourth place respectively.
In the girls’ U-12, Athena Ting clinched fourth place and Louisa Liu in fifth. Esly Soulis won a silver in the boys’ U-18, while siblings Elsy and Elcy finished in fourth and fifth place in the girls’ U-18.
All top five finishers are selected to represent Sabah at 2026 Malaysian School Sports Council (MSSM) Championship to be held in Terengganu from August 28 to September 4.
Kota Kinabalu Tennis Association in a statement released on Saturday congratulated the team for the success and also thanked the accompanying teachers, parents and others for their support.
