THE Sabah government should prioritise development needs in the Tempasuk constituency, particularly water supply, infrastructure, healthcare and rural economic growth, assemblyman Datuk Mohd Arsad Bistari said.
He said persistent water disruptions should be addressed through infrastructure upgrades and proposed feasibility studies for a mini dam or reservoir at Sungai Takutan and Sungai Babagon.
Mohd Arsad also called for closer monitoring of road and drainage maintenance contractors to ensure repairs are carried out promptly.
To boost the local economy, he proposed developing Kg Sangkir into a recreational and youth economic hub, while upgrading Bukit Rinig View into the Tempasuk Tourism Information Centre.
He said the initiatives could expand community-based tourism, create business opportunities and generate new income sources without affecting paddy fields.
Speaking during the debate on the Supplementary Supply Bill 2026 at the Sabah State Legislative Assembly, he also called for stronger welfare support through healthcare equipment assistance for home-based patients.
He proposed allocations for hospital beds, wheelchairs and oxygen tanks to assist chronic patients, senior citizens and persons with disabilities.
Mohd Arsad urged action on the shortage of doctors at Kota Belud Hospital and district health clinics through increased manpower and improved facilities.
He also sought additional allocations to upgrade rubber estate roads in Kota Belud and Tempasuk to support 1,715 smallholders managing about 4,364 hectares of rubber plantations.
He said the rubber sector generated RM5.3 million in sales in 2025 and remained an important source of rural income.
Mohd Arsad expressed support for the RM1.612 billion Supplementary Supply Bill, saying the additional funds should translate into efficient services and high-impact projects that directly benefit communities.
