Tenom: Tenom has been selected to host the three-day Sabah-level Farmers, Breeders and Fishermen’s Day celebration from Sept 11.
State Agriculture, Fisheries and Food Industry Minister Datuk Jamawi Jaafar said the event will feature exhibitions, site visits, agricultural activities and awards recognising outstanding performers in the agriculture, livestock and fisheries sectors.

He said hosting the celebration in Tenom marks the first time the State-level event will be held in Sabah’s interior, providing an opportunity for rural communities to witness the vast potential of the agro sector as a source of income.
“This is the first time the State-level programme is being brought to the interior, and we believe it will have a positive impact on rural communities.
“We want to demonstrate that agriculture, livestock, food industries and the rubber sector can be developed commercially and generate attractive returns for villagers,” he said.
Jamawi said the event is in line with the State Government’s efforts to strengthen Sabah’s agri-food sector by encouraging greater participation from local entrepreneurs.
He added that the Ministry is planning to invite Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor to officiate the celebration.
The event is expected to bring together key players in Sabah’s agro industry while showcasing local agricultural, livestock and fisheries products to the public.
