SANDAKAN: Two boys aged nine and 11 drowned after they were believed to have gone swimming at an abandoned pool along Jalan Sungai Manila here on Monday evening.
The Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) said it received an emergency call on the incident at 6.01pm, involving two victims reported to have drowned while bathing at the pool.

It said both victims had been retrieved from the pool by members of the public before the arrival of firefighters from Sandakan Fire and Rescue Station.
Health Ministry personnel later confirmed that both victims had died at the scene, with one identified as Mohd Ikmal, 9, while the identity of the 11-year-old victim was not immediately available.
A team of five firefighters led by PBK I Rosemedian Majid assisted in moving the bodies to a safe area before handing them over to the Health Ministry and police for further action.
The operation ended at 7.08pm.
