Kota Kinabalu: Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) will officially introduce several prominent figures and heavyweight leaders joining the party during two West Coast division annual general meetings (AGMs) on July 26 and Aug 9, its president Datuk Chin Su Phin said.
Chin said the AGMs would serve as platforms to announce the new members after he chaired the party's seventh Supreme Council meeting.

He said the growing number of young Chinese professionals, including those from the business sector, professional fields and community leadership, joining LDP reflected increasing support for local-based parties.
Chin said the previous Sabah election showed the Kadazan-Dusun-Murut and Malay communities had become increasingly united under local political parties, adding that Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) was playing an important role in engaging with the Federal Government.
He expressed hope that the Chinese community would unite behind local-based parties within the GRS coalition, including LDP, to strengthen Sabah's representation at the federal level and urged members to continue engaging with the grassroots while encouraging more young people to participate in politics.
