Kota Kinabalu: The Pan Borneo Highway stretch from Berungis Roundabout to Tebobon under Work Package 8 (WP8) is expected to be completed in 2028, the Ministry of Works and Utilities (KKRU) said.
The Ministry said part of the alignment from Petronas Tebobon to Norowot Junction is expected to be opened to traffic this year, subject to the completion of construction works and approval by the Supervising Officer.

The update was provided in a written reply to a question by Tamparuli assemblyman Datuk Seri Wilfred Madius Tangau during the State Legislative Assembly sitting.
KKRU said Phase 1A of the Pan Borneo Highway project recorded 88.14 per cent progress as of June 2026 and was 11.37 per cent ahead of schedule, while Work Package 9 (WP09) and Phase 1B achieved 30.30 per cent and 20.98 per cent progress respectively.
The Ministry said the Government remains committed to completing the project as planned and will continue monitoring its implementation to minimise delays and ensure the benefits reach the public as soon as possible.
