SANDAKAN: Newly appointed Naval Region 2 Commander Rear Admiral Jamaludin Sairi said his priority is to further strengthen the management of Naval Region 2 Headquarters (Mawilla 2), particularly its operational capabilities, assets, logistics and overall administration.
He said the welfare of Mawilla 2 personnel would continue to be a priority, while expressing confidence that the Armed Forces Family Welfare Association (Bakat) Navy would remain active in supporting the naval community.
Jamaludin said this after receiving command from his predecessor, Rear Admiral Ivan Mario Andrew, at the 36th Naval Region 2 Change of Command Ceremony held at Dewan Azim, Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN) Housing Complex in Sandakan on Friday, witnessed by Eastern Fleet Commander Vice Admiral Datuk Khir Junaidi Idris.
Jamaludin, who previously served as Deputy Naval Region 2 Commander and most recently as Lumut Base Commander, thanked Ivan for his contributions in strengthening Mawilla 2, while Ivan, who will retire on Aug 7 after leading the command for three years and 17 weeks, expressed confidence in his successor's leadership.
Ivan said Mawilla 2 would continue to fulfil its responsibility of safeguarding Sabah's waters under Jamaludin's leadership, while assuring the public that the RMN remains committed to protecting the state's maritime security and thanking all Mawilla 2 personnel for their support during his tenure.
