MATUNGGONG: The State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to improving children's welfare through a community eye screening and spectacles distribution programme for school pupils in Matunggong.

The three-day programme, which began on Monday, aims to ensure pupils with vision problems receive early detection and the assistance needed to support their learning.

Sabah Women's Advisory Council (MPWS) chairman Datuk Rosmawati Lasuki, representing Women, Health and People's Wellbeing Minister Datuk Julita Majungki, said good eyesight is essential for effective classroom learning and academic performance.

She urged parents to be more aware of changes in their children's behaviour, noting that poor vision is often mistaken for a lack of interest or concentration in school.
