Kota Kinabalu: A 13-year-old girl reported missing after failing to return home from school has been found safe.
Acting Kota Kinabalu Police Chief Supt Syed Lot Syed Ab Rahman said Gwynne Mia Erbin was found alone in front of her friend's house in Lorong Seri Pelangi, Inanam, at about 3pm on Tuesday.
He said the girl was in good health and unhurt, adding that she told police she had been staying with a friend since the previous day.
The girl was later taken by her mother to the Kota Kinabalu district police headquarters to lodge a follow-up report and for further action.
Police advised the public not to speculate or spread unverified information while investigations continue, and thanked those who helped share information on the case.
