KUDAT: The body of an unidentified man believed to be in his 30s was found floating in the waters near the Angkasa Baru fish jetty here on Sunday morning.
Kudat Police Chief Supt Mohd Haris Hj Ibrahim said police received a report from a member of the public about the discovery at about 10.30am.
A team of seven Fire and Rescue Department personnel led by PBK I John Francis Andam arrived at the scene at 10.43am, retrieved the body and handed it over to police for further action.
Mohd Haris said the body was taken to Kudat Hospital for a post-mortem examination, while the case has been classified as a sudden death pending further investigation.
He urged anyone with information on the victim's identity or a missing family member to contact the Kudat District Police Headquarters or investigating officer Insp Ganesh A/L Arumugam at 014-9052819, and advised the public not to speculate or spread unverified information that could interfere with the investigation.
