TAMBUNAN: A male motorcyclist sustained serious injuries while two others suffered minor injuries in a road accident involving a van and a motorcycle at Kampung Toboh, here, on Sunday evening.
The Sabah Fire and Rescue Department’s Operations Control Centre (PGO) received an emergency call from a civilian, Elmer Alfred, at 6.50pm.
Operations Supervisor Senior Fire Officer I (PBK I) Raizaain Awang Damit said a team from the Tambunan Fire and Rescue Station comprising nine firefighters and two emergency response vehicles was immediately dispatched to the scene, located about 6km metres from the station.
He said the rescue team arrived seven minutes after departure.
“The seriously injured motorcyclist was given initial treatment at the scene before being rushed to the nearest hospital by Ministry of Health (MOH) personnel.
“The van driver and a passenger, who sustained minor injuries, were transported to the hospital in the Fire and Rescue Department’s EMRS vehicle for further treatment,” he said.
Raizaain said no extrication operation was required as no victims were trapped in the wreckage.
After confirming that the scene was safe and free from fire hazards, he said the operation was concluded at 7.25pm and the scene was handed over to police for further investigation.
